Help answer the question about Travel in Greece
How do I book train/bus/ferry travel in Greece? My friends and I are traveling to Greece and Macedonia in August but are having trouble finding information about booking train, bus, and ferry tickets. We are flying into Thessaloniki, Greece and then traveling to Skopje, Macedonia for a few days. We would then like to visit both Mykonos and Santorini and finally back to Athens where we will fly home. We have not been able to find any valid information on how to get from place to place. Any information or websites that I can visit would be greatly appreciated.

I just booked my trip to Greece from LA. It was $890, 8 day with round trip flight and hotel. Try the end of March on a weekday and the return also on a weekday.
thats pretty old !!! i dont even remember that trolley buses…
best thing to do is fly into turkey first and then go to greece.
cheapest way to get your tickets is by going to Turkish Airlines .com and searching their site for the cheapest destinations and write them down… and then you try and find a flight to those destinations….. SIDESTEP.COM is the BEST for airline tickets, it has every airline wesite on it….trust me this is the best way to get cheap airline tickets because most arilines have a couple of cities where they fly for really cheap. also do not use expedia or other sites because they charge you just to find tickets for you, go to the actual website of the airline company…
while in grece go to an Mykonos and go crazy
and then go to Santorini and relax.
woah, so old, do u know the year?
In my opinion, if you want to have relaxing, high quality and relatively cheap holidays you should go to Crete (Chania or Rethymno). Crete has everything: historical sites, old city-centers and castles, AMAZING beaches (like Falasarna and Elafonisi) , rivers, canyons (Samaria), traditional habits, nice things to eat and drink, kind people etc. But actually Crete is so big and there are so many things to see, that you need to stay there a least one week to enjoy it. You will definately need to rent a car, otherwise it's not worth it.
Keep in mind, however, that Crete is only a single aspect of Greece.
I also agree with Timo M. You can stay for 3 days in Athens and do day-trips to Epidavros of Delphi. From Athens, Pireas port daily leave hundreds of boats to practically anywhere in the Aegean. I would suggest Andros (definately needs a car), Chios (not so good beaches but very beautiful), Lesvos (not so good beaches but very beautiful), Limnos, Syros (not so good beaches but very beautiful), Sifnos, Skiros….and it goes on forever! If you'd ask me, I'd chose Andros and Skiros.
You can go to any book store, and in the travel section you will find books about the Greek islands, and some written specifically about Cyclades islands. Also you will be able to find guides to Athens. I'm sure your local library has them also.
When you get to Greece, your hotel in Athens will provide some free materials….maps and tour info, and a guide to the city. They are provided free and they are paid for thru advertising, but still, they are helpful to the tourists. At the travel agency offices you will also find similar guides to the islands….just ask.

It depends on a couple of things.
If she is a legal resident of France and holds a residence permit then she can travel freely in the Schengen zone with this card and her passport combined.
I assume from the gact that you mention she is not a citizen of France that she does not have a French passport.
If she is currently on holiday in France and again it depends on her nationality.
- If she is American, Canadian, Australian or another nationality which is allowed to travel under the Visa Waiver Program, then she is free to travel to Greece so long as she will not stay in the Schengen area more than 90 days (out of any 180 days)
- if she is there on holiday with a Schengen visa, then it depends on her actual Schengen visa and how long she has been in Schengen zone. A Schengen visa MAY have restrictions (e.g. that she can only visit France or that she cannot visit Greece), and also it may state x days visit which is less than 90 days, and she will need to stick to this limit for the total visit (and not just the stay in France)
So it depends on her immigration situation and nationality which you do not mention.
It is true that there are no border controls in the Schengen area but there may be random checks on odd occasions and if travelling via an airport a passport is still required which will be verified.
EDIT – ok, based on your updated info, if she is legally residing in France with a residence permit (usually based on family reunification on the basis of her French husband) then she just needs this permit plus her passport and she can travel in the Schengen zone freely. Note: this is only for the case for the Schengen zone and not for the total EU.
